Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy for PTSD
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (commonly referred to as PTSD) may make you think of a soldier in a battle-torn country, far from home, witnessing and experiencing the most violent situation you can imagine. This is not entirely true as PTSD is and can be so much more than this.
Anyone can suffer from PTSD and not just Army, Navy and Emergency service personnel. In my time as a Detective in the Police, I was very aware of many friends and colleagues who suffered from this. In ‘the moment’ they remained professional as their training kicked in but afterwards when they took the uniform off and began to be ‘just a person again’ that the realism of what they had experienced, overtook them.
The NHS website describes PTSD as an anxiety disorder caused by stressful, frightening or distressing events. I think this is a very concise description. If we take the NHS definition as accurate then we can see that this moves away from ‘just’ an emergency/military perspective and encompasses serious road accidents, assaults (including sexual), domestic violence, people who are also a witness to a traumatic event and terrorist attacks to name just a few.
With the recent terrorist attacks in 2017 in both London and Manchester, many of the witnesses were totally unprepared for what was about to happen. They were out with family and friends and suddenly, they are thrown into a completely unnatural, stressful and frightening environment.
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy is an excellent choice to address PTSD.
Although the memory of what you may have seen and experienced cannot be removed, your resulting action to it can be.
Depending on the level of your PTSD, 1-2 sessions can assist or for more deep-rooted issues, I would suggest a series of treatments, which are taken at your pace would be most beneficial.
